CUE stands for the Claims and Underwriting Exchange, which was set-up in 1994 for insurers to share information and help stop insurance fraud. CUE is run by the Motor Insurers Bureau (MIB) and is one of two key databases to help fight insurance fraud.
The national database is vast and covers car insurance, home and travel insurance, as well as personal injury claims, and contains around 34 million records. It holds all reported incidents of the past six years, even those where a claim wasn’t made, and by sharing this history with insurers, it makes it harder for repeat fraudsters to succeed.
Information stored on CUE is used to confirm the information you provide to insurers is correct and can directly affect the cost of your car insurance. CUE holds information on car accidents, thefts and personal injuries, which insurers use to assess risk before offering you a quote when you apply for a policy.
You can find out what information CUE holds about you by completing a Subject Access Request form on the Motor Insurers Bureau (MIB) website.
If any of the information in your view is not correct, you can challenge any of this information directly with the MIB or the insurer who filed it.
For reasons of commercial confidentiality we cannot list the insurers who use our database. However, your insurer should be able to tell you what industry databases they use. This may be listed in their Privacy Notice.
Disputes (amending or deleting a search):
Only the credit reference agency (CRA) can amend or delete a search on your credit file.
If you wish to dispute a search, please raise this directly with the CRA. They will review your case and liaise with us where necessary. Please note that, because data from some searches are shared across multiple insurers, the CRA will work with us to confirm whether the search was generated correctly. The CRA will update you on the outcome in line with their standard process.
Queries (general information):
If you have a question about a search or want to know which insurers or brokers accessed your data, or your dispute has been rejected and you believe your details have been fraudulently used, please contact the CRA using the details below. They will provide the relevant information or escalate your query where appropriate.

Insurers and brokers will perform a search at the credit reference agency when they prepare a renewal offer for you or make an adjustment to your policy (sometimes referred to as Mid Term Adjustment). Please be aware that it is common practice for comparison websites to keep the information you give them and send you quote details a year later. You will usually find this explained in their terms and conditions. When they create a new quote for you, the insurers they use will request new searches for credit reference agency data. Some insurers and brokers use Percayso Inform to do this search, and so our name will appear once again on your credit file. We have no control over this practice. If you don’t recognise the search or you suspect fraudulent behaviour then please contact the credit reference agency who have processes in place to deal with disputes on consumer credit files and suspected fraud.
The searches conducted by Percayso Inform are classed as soft searches. These types of searches should not affect your credit rating.
The ways in which these Credit Reference Agencies use and share personal information is explained in more detail at the following links:
There is also a really useful article available on the Money Saving Expert website:

Where we act as a processor, we pass the information supplied by the insurer or broker to the credit reference agency they have chosen. We then receive the results from the credit reference agency and pass them straight back to the insurer or broker.
We do not use any credit reference agency data for our own purposes; we only hold and handle this data on behalf of the insurer or broker, and we have no authority to amend or delete it.
When you request an insurance quote or buy insurance (either directly from the insurer, or a broker, or by using a comparison website), certain insurers and brokers will check your details against credit reference agency data, and some use Percayso Inform to carry out this search for them. The data supplied to Percayso Inform by the insurer or broker is usually name, address and date of birth.
This will vary across each credit reference agency. At some the search is only visible to you and the insurer or broker who requested the search. At others the search is also visible to other companies carrying out the same kind of search. However, it is classed as a ‘soft search’ and so should not affect your credit rating.
Please bear in mind that a Percayso Inform footprint may represent multiple insurers or brokers, for example if you have used an aggregator website (such as www.gocompare.com). Percayso Inform performs deduplication to avoid multiple footprints being left on your credit file for the same enquiry. Percayso Inform will then share the information returned from the CRAs with all insurers and brokers that have requested it.
Whilst your credit file does not display details of the aggregator website, insurer and/or broker that have requested your credit data, you can ask to see this information by making a request to the CRA directly.
See “How do I amend or delete the search on my credit file?” for further information.
We are an independent, UK registered organisation providing our business clients with additional data to help them understand a little bit more about you, their potential customer, which may include information from a credit reference agency (CRA).
Credit Reference Agencies (CRAs) allow insurers and brokers to use certain types of credit reference data when assessing risk. This data helps them forecast future liabilities more accurately and set competitive prices for insurance and credit products. For consumers, this means fairer pricing, where those with lower risk profiles benefit from reduced premiums and instalment costs.

A Percayso Inform footprint on your Credit File showing as ‘Insurance Quotation’ or similar is a notification that an insurer or broker generated a quote for insurance and requested Percayso Inform to carry out the search against the credit reference agency.
